Bhadohi (UP): Police said a woman and her 22-year-old daughter allegedly committed suicide on Sunday by taking insecticide.

Suman Tiwari (42) and her daughter Komal, residents of Arai village, consumed sulfonamide (insecticide) tablets at their home this morning, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Tejveer Singh said.

Family members rushed her to a hospital in Prayagraj district, but she died there, he added.

The bodies were taken back to their village and police are investigating the matter, he added.

“The reason for taking such an extreme step has not yet been determined,” the officer said.
