United Nations condemns suicide bombings in Borno

June 30 (THEWILL) – The United Nations strongly condemns the suicide bombings on civilians that took place on Saturday in Gwoza Local Government Area of ​​Borno State.

The condemnation was announced by the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohamed Malick Falla, in an official statement issued on Sunday on the attacks in Gwóz in Borno State.

The exact number of dead and injured is unknown, but several dozen people were reported to have been killed and others seriously injured.

On June 29, members of a non-state armed group allegedly attacked a wedding party in the town of Gwoza using a man-made improvised explosive device. Dozens of people, including children, women and men, were reportedly killed in the attack. Two more attacks were reported to have taken place the same day.

“I am horrified by this attack on civilians and condemn such acts in the strongest possible terms. I stand in solidarity with the government of Nigeria and the families and communities of all those affected.”
