New Delhi: : A six-year-old child died on Sunday evening when the terrace of his house collapsed in Delhi Raw Vihar region. The incident occurred when part of the terrace of an old building with an area of ​​approximately 50 square meters collapsed and the boy fell and died.

The boy was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospitalwhere he was declared dead on arrival. He leaves behind his parents and a nine-year-old sister. The family, tenants for six months, includes Santosh, his wife and their daughter.

Visuals from the scene showed a shabby building with a large missing section of a terrace with brick walls. A six-year-old boy was playing on the terrace when the terrace suddenly collapsed, causing him to fall.

The owner of the building, Ramji Lal, who lives on the ground floor, is currently in hiding. The police registered a case against the owner based on a complaint lodged by the boy’s father Santosh. Further investigation is ongoing.

Earlier this week, two children drowned in a pool of rainwater in Delhi. The victims, identified as an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy, were residents of Som Bazaar in New Usmanpur. Sources told Times Now that rainwater had collected in the ditch, forming a pool about 1.5 metres deep. The boys were playing nearby and decided to swim in the pool. However, the water was too deep and they drowned.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s rain-related death toll reached 11 after the national capital reported six more rain-related deaths on Saturday. The city is likely to experience heavy rains in the next two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert due to heavy rains in the city.
