(KRON) — Firefighters responded to a fire in the Berkeley Hills near Grizzly Peak Monday evening.

Photos and footage from the scene show the fire was raging at around 9:45 p.m., but firefighters extinguished it about an hour later.

Steve Gehling of the Moraga-Orinda Fire Department said firefighters extinguished the fire within 15 to 20 minutes.

“Fortunately, the fire didn’t spread very quickly here,” he said. “The vegetation wasn’t super dry right now. So this fire could be a little worse in a few months. Because of the quick response, given the fact that we have so many agencies so close, we had crews here very quickly.”

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
