Once again, the Mario and Zelda producer has filed lawsuits against people he believes are abusing his intellectual property (IP), and this time he is targeting two people who are allegedly involved in Nintendo’s content piracy network. In the past, Nintendo forced Switch emulators to be disabled on PCclaiming that the company behind them is profiting from its intellectual property.

The same principle applies here, but in the world of piracy, where Nintendo is filing lawsuits against James Williams “arch box“(PDF) Surprise, Arizona and Ryan “Home brewer“Daly’s of Flint, Michigan. Nintendo accused Williams of participating in the creation, operation, and promotion of not only pirated Nintendo content, but also of helping others create, operate, and promote a network of online stores dedicated to storing pirated Nintendo Switch games that are available for download.

The lawsuit alleges that one such online store, called LiberaShop, “offers over 33,000 different versions“pirated Nintendo games. More specifically, the lawsuit refers to subreddit r/SwitchPiratesa group of 190,000 people, including Williams, who openly admit to pirating Nintendo content. The lawsuit cites screenshots from “arch box“Writing on Reddit Account”Most of us who have hacked our Switch console are, as you said, pirates and we will not pay Nintendo $50 for a game.“

As for Daly, Nintendo accuses him of running a website called Modded Hardware, which is a site dedicated to selling “a variety of products designed specifically (and having no commercial purpose other than) to circumvent Nintendo’s technological protection measures.“
