Fourteen people were killed when a three-story building collapsed in the southern Egyptian city of Assiut, the city’s governor, Essam Saad, said on Tuesday.

Bodies were pulled from the rubble during a search and rescue operation following the building collapse on Monday.

“Six people were rescued and taken to hospital,” Mr Saad said.

According to him, the poor technical condition of old buildings and violations of building regulations are often the cause of tragic collapses of residential buildings in Egypt.

According to the report, rescue teams have been searching for survivors for 24 hours.
