CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — The Charlottesville Police Department is investigating a possible suicide pact that left a woman dead and a man seriously injured.

On Thursday afternoon, officers responded to the scene at 301 Monte Vista Avenue to conduct a wellness check.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 81-year-old Brenda Lois Lambert dead from a gunshot wound.

Officers also found 85-year-old James Marvin Shea Jr. with serious injuries. Shea was transported to UVA Hospital where he is currently receiving care and is in stable condition.

While current evidence and statements indicate that this incident was planned by the couple, the investigation is ongoing.

The community is not at risk in any way.
