Man dies in horrific workplace incident

A man died when the floor of a cattle wagon collapsed on a farm in remote Central Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a property on the Dawson Highway in Bauhinia, southwest of Rockhampton, shortly after 1pm on Thursday.

The man, whose identity was not officially revealed, suffered serious injuries but died at the scene.

Another man, aged in his 50s, was airlifted by RACQ CapRescue to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the man was being treated for serious leg and pelvic injuries.

Queensland Police said in a statement that seven officers attended the scene of a “workplace incident” at about 1.30pm.

“The police are assisting the occupational health and safety services in conducting the investigation,” we read in the statement.

“No further details.”
